Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the amazing Broke And The Bookish.
Top Six Favourite TV Shows
Obviously this isn't an exhaustive list, because God knows I'm a TV-a-holic and there are a ton more shows I could have added to this list. But I narrowed it down to some of my all time favourites, mostly ones that I could easily re-watch again- in fact most of them I have. So here we go...
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy has been
my all time favourite TV series for as long as I can remember. I started
watching it when I was about 10, and still love it all these years later (in
fact my partner and I are re-watching the entire show currently). I’m not going
to go too much into the story as I’m guessing many people know the premise. It
starts off with Buffy a 16 year old girl who is the ‘chosen one’, with the duty
of protecting the world from vampires and the like. There’s a lot of humour, an
apocalypse or two and some forbidden romance as well. I highly recommend it!!
Firefly
Another Joss
Whedon production, however unlike Buffy, Firefly only lasted one season. This
show is set in the future, and has a western space cowboy feel to it. It’s about
a renegade crew aboard a ‘Firefly’ spacecraft named ‘Serenity’, who make ends
meet by taking on smuggling and cargo run jobs. While evading the warring
government factions out to get them. Even if Sci-fi doesn’t appeal to you, I
would still highly suggest watching this, it has a great cast, well developed
characters are alot of witty banter.
Misfits
I’m a huge fan of British shows. I love their humour, and the accents are awesome too :P Misfits follows the lives of 5 teenagers, all who are delinquents set to spend time doing community service. But when a thunderstorm hits them, they all suddenly develop super powers. But the question is will they use them for good or bad? This show has a lot of swearing in it as well as quite a few sex scenes so I wouldn’t suggest it to a younger audience, but it is amazingly hilarious and my favourite character Nathan completely steals the show.
The next 3 are NZ made TV shows, I thought I should do a little representing and put some in here for good measure. Also it’s always nice to find TV shows that you may normally not come across.
The Almighty Johnsons
The almighty johnsons is about a
family of Norse Gods living in New Zealand, and how when each turns 18 they get
instilled with the power of a particular God. When the youngest brother Axl
becomes the God Odin, everything changes, as they try and fulfil a prophecy
that will return their full powers to them.
I really enjoyed this show, it’s the first one I’ve seen about Norse
Folklore, and while it’s not as flashy as American shows are in the CGI area it’s
still a really good watch.
Outrageous Fortune
Outrageous Fortune
I haven’t
watched this show in ages, but it’s about a criminal (mostly petty crimes)
family living in West Auckland. The patriarch of the family has just been sent
to jail, and his wife Cheryl decides it’s time to set the family back onto the
straight and narrow. The show is a mixture of funny and drama and the acting is
pretty fantastic.
Step Dave
This show is
relatively new and follows Dave a 20 something bartender who happens to meet
the woman of his dreams one night, only to realise she’s actually 16 years his
senior with 3 children. It deals with the whole concept of age differences in
relationships and the difficulties associated with them in a realistic but
funny way, along with a whole lot of cougar and MILF jokes.
I love British TV shows! I have not continued with the Misfits series but I did love Season 1 and 2. I love Sherlock and Downtown Abbey too. As well as Orphan Black! Great List!

I've never seen Buffy...can you believe it? After I finish watching Veronica Mars I'm planning to start it. I also think I'd like Misfits from some Hulu promos I've seen lately.
