Feature and Follow (7)

Here’s this week’s question:
Share your favorite literary quote.
Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community.

Well this quote isn't strictly literary, but it is by a famous author, and I just feel it's so true to life. I want to live my life by this quote because I think it is so true, and that people hold themselves back in life, in fear of doing anything outside their comfort zone, and by doing that they miss out on so many opportunities in life.

In My Mailbox (6)

In my mailbox is a weekly feature hosted by The Story Siren. It’s a way to showcase the books that you gotten through different places. Books you gotten in the mail, brought from a store, borrowed from the library, received to write a review, or they can be in eBook form.  Head here for more information.

This weeks IMM is an accumulation of the last fortnight or so, since I haven't posted one in a while. The best thing from the last week leading up to my exams is that, while studying in the library I discovered they have a 'personal reading' section. It's small, but it exists. So I was ecstatic, (yes I am easily pleased by such small insignificant things),who knew, here I was thinking the University Library was only good for textbooks haha.

Review - Let the Sky Fall (Shannon Messenger)

Synopsis
Seventeen-year-old Vane Weston has no idea how he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. And he has no idea if the beautiful, dark-haired girl who’s swept through his dreams every night since the storm is real. But he hopes she is.

Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And their greatest danger is not the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.

My Review

This picture pretty much sums up my reading experience. I don’t feel authorized to give this book an official rating since after about 120 pages, it got put into my DNF pile. For some reason this book just wasn’t for me. The premise sounded interesting at first and the cover was to die for, but I found the idea of Sylphs and the way the author presented the ideas rather tedious, and before long I found myself quite bored. There is nothing particularly wrong with the book, and I’m sure there are many people who have enjoyed it, it just wasn't for me. I just found the characters hard to relate to, and nothing about them really sparked a connection in me.

So all up, this was a so-so book, it definitely wasn’t for me, but that’s not to say it isn’t for you :)

Feature and Follow (6)

Here’s this week’s question:
Activity: Spine Poetry. Create a line of poetry with your book spines (take a picture). Not feeling creative? Tell us about your favorite poem.

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community.

First off, I really suck at poetry, and I've never been particularly interested in it. Mainly because I could never really understand it. But I've given it a go, and I think I did ok...kind of haha. This challenge was also particularly difficult considering I'm moving soon and half my books are in boxes, but I used what I could... so enjoy :P

Shift Endlessly,
Across the Universe.
Let's get lost.
This lullaby, the last song...

Before I die

So give it a go guys, I'd love to read your poems. So leave some links :)

General Update: Apoligies, 100 Followers and Giveaways!

Firstly I want to apologise to my wonderful readers for not being a very responsive blogger over the last couple of weeks. I have tried to update when I can, but honestly just haven't had the time or patience to sit down and read lately let alone update. University has made me its bitch the last couple weeks with an assignment and presentation  worth 70% of my overall grade (on the bile bear trade in Asia), 3 upcoming exams and to top it all off I'm also moving house in the next couple of weeks so I've been busy packing in my spare time.

So now that I have my whining out the way lol. I want to thank all my readers and followers, as I have officially reached 100 followers which I am astounded by. *Excitable dance*

I've been blogging on and off for almost a year now, and never expected to get this far. I appreciate you guys so much and I love seeing your comments and discussing books with you. I could not wish for a more amazing group of people to share my thoughts , opinions and sometimes rants with. You are all amazing!

On a side note. I am looking to do a 100 follower giveaway, ( since you guys deserve it !). However I have never done one before and am not really sure how to go about it. I live in New Zealand and  have lots of great books that I would love to use for giveaways, however as most of my readers are from the other side of the world, shipping would probably cost a fortune. I know some people giveaway Amazon giftcards, or use book depository for giveaways.

But I would love to hear how YOU organize your blog giveaways. I would really appreciate the feedback :)

Anyway that's it for this update. There will be some reviews up soon. Happy reading everyone!!
