 My Review
I’ve always found it hard to write reviews for books that were mediocre, and this one is no exception. I had such high hopes for this book, and I was really let down. All the characters were underdeveloped, especially the main character Leah. I found it so hard to feel any sympathy towards her, and I tried...I really did. She has everything a girl could possibly want; great grades, cheerleader, doting boyfriend, a car for her 16th birthday...but is she satisfied with that. Of course not! Leah is all about there being more too her life, and not wanting to follow in her sisters footsteps. Yes I understand that her life was basically mapped out for her by her overbearing mother, and that would stifle any teenager. One of the things I disliked about her most though is that after realizing she wanted to be with Duffy/Porter, she didn’t break up with Shane (her current Boyfriend). Instead she kept him hanging (but treated him like shit), as a safety net in case things didn’t work out with Porter. This dear Leah got you onto my most hated characters list of 2013.

And don’t even get me started on Duffy/Porter the boy that ‘sweeps’ Leah off her feet. There was little to no chemistry between the two of them. For me it was like an apple and an orange getting it on, completely obscure and a little bit arousing (just joking)... but really there were no heartfelt moments of tenderness and intimacy. Which was a huge disappointment since the cover oozes chemistry and the promise of romance.

 Where was the passion??!!

This book had a lot of promise, and I wouldn’t have minded the main character a much if there had actually been some personal growth and self exploration. But in the end she was just the same spoilt rich girl with the same first world problems of choosing which lip-gloss matched her outfit. Anyway enough ranting, I hate writing mean reviews, but sometimes you just have to get it off your chest.

 My rating: 2/5
and only because I like the cover!
