Top Five Books That Will Make You Cry
As you can see I’ve only chosen 5 books to feature this
week. Whether that’s because A) I don’t read many books that are sad, because I
hate crying or B) I don’t cry even when a book is sad, because I hate
crying....I don’t know. But here are 5 books that have managed to bring me to
tears or close enough to it...
A Time For Dancing
By Davida Wills Hurwin
Winger
by Andrew Smith
OMG the ending of this book got me. The entire book is relatively light and funny, but the ending
was just so heartbreaking and it came out of nowhere, and hit me like a ton of bricks.
The Program
by Suzanne Young
There a parts of this that are just so sad,
particularly between Sloane and James that just tore my heart out. The whole book was just generally sad, and I felt so immersed in the characters, as if I was in their position.
The Pact
by Jodi Picoult
Hopeless
by Colleen Hoover
Another book that deals with some heavy and pretty disturbing issues.I wouldn't suggest it for everyone because of some of the content, but This one definitely got me right in the feels.

Ahh, I have Hopeless! I need to read that. And I really want to read Winger and The Program as well!
ReplyDeleteGreat list!

They're all great books I'd definitely recommend them! Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteEek, I haven't read any of these. I've heard great things about The Program, though, and I'm definitely interested in giving it a try. I hope you find many more wonderfully sad books!
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily. I'm not a huge fan of sad books, but they're good every once and a while. The Program was just....uh so amazing. One of my favorite books of 2013, I definitely suggest it when you get the chance :)
DeleteI almost included Hopeless, and then went with Slammed instead. Either way, Colleen Hoover certainly knows how to bring on the feels, right?

Hopeless was my first Colleen Hoover book, and I know that I will pick up her other books without a doubt. She really does know how to get a readers waterworks flowing! Thanks for stopping by:)
DeleteGreat picks. Jodi Picoult's books always seem to make me cry, but in the end I picked My Sister's Keeper as it was the first book I read of hers and it had me absolutely sobbing. I loved The Program, such a brilliant book. I am hoping to read Hopeless soon, I've seen it on a lot of lists so I am expecting to cry buckets. My TTT :)
ReplyDeleteMy Sister's Keeper was the first Jodi Picoult book I read too, and from then on I was hooked on her writing. It was hard to only pick one of her books to put on the list, as you said they have a tendency to make you cry and I don't think I've once read one of her books without shedding a few tears. Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteI haven't read any of these books, but many of them are on my TBR list. They seem like some great picks! Here's my TTT: http://unearthlyreviews.blogspot.com/2014/02/top-ten-tuesday-books-that-will-make-me.html Happy Reading! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan, I've enjoyed every one of these books. I definitely suggest reading them when you get the chance. I'll be sure to check out your TTT :)
DeleteThe Program is a great pick! I don't think I've seen that on any other lists and I definitely shed a significant amount of tears reading about Sloane and James. I definitely cried at Winger, but I was also kind of mad that the terrible thing happened so close to the end! Great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I agree with your comment about Winger, it came out of the blue so suddenly, and because it was right at the end, I felt so lost when it finished. It was such a big contrast to the rest of the book. Ah I loved The Program so much, it got me right in the feels!
